But I swear I’m not a prude 😂 BUT the characters grew on me, matured and grew in the book too, learned to appreciate what’s important (it’s really just the shallow MC) AND I liked the story. It was a fun setting, and I liked the characters' growth throughout. There were a few plot things that were a bit weird. Specifically, Piper's mom and her warnings early in the book felt like they were going to weigh more heavily in the plot, but sort of fell flat. Also, Daniel was such an important character in the overall plot but again faded in the end which left it feeling like there were some loose strings. Maybe that leaves room for more in book 2? There was some spice but having read some great Tessa Bailey spice in the past and hearing that this book was on the spicier side I had high expectations that fell a little flat. Overall, this is a cute romcom style book with some very cute moments. My heart melted at every mention of the "recharging station". If you are looking for a cute light romcom romance this is a good option!"

However there were definitely some very cute moments that brought my ranking up. Nonetheless, this book wasn’t my style. It was cringy, and I didn’t really like lead characters. They have great chemistry, I just didn’t really like them in general. I really wish I liked this book, because the second book (Hook, Line, and Sinker) was a great read. ‘It Happened One Summer’ did not meet the same expectations. ~ The spice was decent, but I personally was uninterested. *Includes Spoilers Down Below* This book lacked the enemies to lovers troupe (which was supposed to be a main troupe, I believe): Brenden was essentially attracted to Piper from the moment she entered the bar. He spent years mourning his ex, going into celibacy. Enter Piper, and he wants her to be his a few days after meeting her. I just find this really annoying in books. It’s just something I’ll never understand, how is it possible for a man to long for their dead significant other for years, and see one girl (our female lead), which changes the course of action and that longing fades within a few minutes due to a her attractiveness. It's simply confusing. Piper has some good moments, in this book. I know she has many contributing factors, but, she’s just so entitled, egotistical and a bit naive. From what I’ve seen from other ratings, Piper has great character development… I just can’t stick around anymore. So, it’s a shame I didn’t get to witness that event."
