Jensen), from Hugo and Nebula Award–winning author Anne McCaffrey “Anne McCaffrey’s Pern novels are truly foundational books; it’s hard to imagine the modern-day landscape of fantasy and science fiction without them.”—Naomi Novik, author of the Temeraire series On a beautiful world called Pern, Lessa is an outcast survivor—her parents murdered, her birthright stolen—a fierce young woman who has never stopped dreaming of revenge. That is, until an ambitious young dragonrider, F’lar, offers her something even greater: the chance to lead Pern at his side by Impressing a golden dragon with whom she will share a telepathic bond more intimate than any human connection. Although there is also her intense relationship with F’lar himself. But Lessa’s fierceness and courage will be put to the test when an ancient scourge returns to the land: a deadly silver spore that falls from the sky, destroying all it touches. Only dragons can fight this Thread, and there are not enough dragons to protect all of Pern. "I probably shouldn't write this so soon because my brain actually hurts trying to understand the dialect of this book and I feel even more dumb because it has reference on the last pages which I found out later.

So I guess I will start with that. There are so many names in the story it's to the point where I'm unsure if we are talking about a person or a living place, hold area, whatever. In one paragraph the book is talking about hold or fort if you will and it says I quote "above her". I'm so confused. I had to just get out my phone and start wiki-ing names. I guess I'm that daft. In my opinion I don't want anyone to dumb things down for me but a little description would be nice. For example they always drank "Klah". I don't think I should have to turn to the back of the book to see that oh that's a tea brewed from bark and blah blah. Just mention it one and be done.

I did enjoy the book besides the constant headache of reading it. The plot was tremendously different from anything I've read. I loved the independent heroine routine. The dragons eyes and their complex colors with ranks. The time travel always throws me off though especially since I believe that if you go back in time you can't change your future you only start an alternate path. But I could go on all day about that. If you believe you go back and time that's starts a loop and your future self has already gone back in time which blah blah.... I'll just stop right there lol. Which seems to be the way the book portrays it. And that's fine but just make it the rule of the book. There where no rules explained and yeah I know I'm whining about it.

Also F'lair as I have read in reviews is a complete @sswhole. He is smart and is making the world a safer place but Lessa needs to find someone else or hit up his half brother.

I don't know if I'll continue the series I know there are many but I'm not sure where it could go from here. If you can go back in time and fix everything it just makes life boring no one can die and being scared of death makes life worth living and worth reading about. Like I said in my other reviews if you can worry about losing a character forever it makes you love and cherish them even more."
