Gabrielle <3Ā I recently read the book and had to dnf it. It wasnāt because someone spoiled the ending but it just became sickening. I can read pretty heavy topics and be fine but this book was honestly just gut wrenching. I donāt ever cry to books. Iāve cried to only one but this book absolutely traumatized me and I cried for a good half-hour. After I found out the ending I wanted to seriously just forget I ever read the book. I love her Hanyaās writing, but this was too much, I just felt like I was dreading to read any further. Would I finish it willingly? No. Is it worth the read? No unless you seriously want to feel dead inside for a good couple of weeks.

HaileyĀ I tried reading it and the first bit drew me in cause I liked the writing but knowing what I was in-store for only made me dread picking it up so I put it down for good and just read a lengthy summary to know what happens...Knowing whats in this book and how it affects people, I think wanting to read it to " just get it over with", is a terrible idea, just being honest š you should only read it if you want to and feel 100% prepared for it, cause this book isn't to be taken lightly or read for the sake of reading it. Hype and fomo isn't worth potentially traumatizing yourself.

Anne GĀ I didn't care for it either. Every form of child abuse you can imagine (seriously, EVERY kind) is supposed to be moving and heart-wrenching, but I found it gratuitous & exasperating. Improbable relationships, too long, WAY overrated. So many betterbooks to read!

Dulce VillegasĀ Oh wow really?! I wanted to read this book, but if itās about child abuse I wonāt be able to read it. I read the kite runner and it broke me.
