Topic: The Blacklist
Now that we are empty nesters, my wife and I want to watch a show together. The only tv she ever watches are soaps, SVU and sports. We have wildly different tastes. She’s not into scifi, action, animation or gross out humor, like me. Just finished Anne with an E, which she loved, and are looking for something new. It’s hard to find something I haven’t seen, that I’m interested in and that she’ll also like. Thinking of this one next. So many episodes tho. Thoughts? Recs?

Maril Girton Firefly Lane on Netflix came to mind. It’s a show about two best friends and their relationship to each other through out their lives. It’s a romance and a drama but it kept me interested throughout and has some moments of humor. It’s not the longest show but does seem like something you’re describing.

Maril Girton Oh for some reason it didn’t show me you were asking about The blacklist at all until I commented. I think this is a great pick. It’s lengthy so you might get board 4 season in if this is ALL you’re watching. But it grabs the attention and also I think your wife should really like it if she likes SVU

Lekita Thomas My mom is the same way and this is what we're watching together too. We watch TV together once a week to spend time together. I had watched some before but only a few seasons. It got a lot of seasons for some good quality time. My mom is enjoying Blacklist and she's really picky about her shows. Before that she liked Ozarks and Breaking Bad. I also got her hooked on Amazing Race which I had watched since season 1. She even went back and watched all the seasons on her own.

Rob Paul I read online that you can stop watching this after season five because then it just gets repetitive. Have you found that true?

Lekita Thomas I don't know because I never got past season 5. I think I stopped in the middle of 4 the first time around, but I plan to finish it this time.

Anna It’s pretty good for a while, I don’t remember really which season I stopped watching, but it does get repetitive. Should be good for at least a couple of seasons though.

Nona Lisa I would say to give it some time before you watch it so maybe you can cleanse your pallet from the UK one. They are the same story but still feel different. The only person who feels exactly like his counterpart is Arby. The next closest is Wilson Wilson. The hierarchy of The Network is different in ways. I can't explain it but they really are two different species of the same genus. I loved Rainn and Cusack in the US version. I like how they made the people different from their counterpart, with the exception of the two I stated above. The UK versions were harder to like but were still endearing to me. You really do need to try to watch it as it's own thing and not compare it to the original. If you can't do that, you probably won't like it. As I said in my review of the US version, people tend to prefer the one they watched first and continually compare the other one to it. That may be why I liked the US one more but I did really like the UK one, too. Just not as much.

Adrienne Have y’all seen FBI? If she likes SVU she might like that. I watched a few episodes with my grandfather a few months ago and found it pretty addicting

Aubrey Summers I loved the first season, but never finished the second. My parents were the same. It just got too unrealistic and the main character became too unlikeable.
