"I watched this when it first came out in theaters. I adored it then and I adore it now.
X-Men days of future past wrapped everything up with both timeliness rather amazingly, but this one helped expand the universe. I loved seeing the way things changed after mutants were discovered. Heck, that scene at the beginning where they're learning about mutants in class is phenomenal. I love tiny things like that that show you how a story plays out after in that same world. Those moments always astound me & this is full of them.
Apocalypse is an amazing villain. Love him. He's intimadating, a true threat, beyond powerful, & you see his motivation throughout. He's basically like a twisted, sadistic, god-complex version of Magneto. But I'm here for it.
Every single line out of Quicksilvers mouth is pure gold. I said that after I watched it the first time & it still holds true. Every character i fall hard for in this movie. Even Caliban. I love it.
That climax is amazing. I was truly on the edge of my seat in my first viewing & I continue to be even on my fifth. There's always something I forget about that captures my interest all over again. The entire moment is beyond intricate & full of surprises. That X gives me chills everytime. For someone like me who often always sees her predictions come true it is a great breath of fresh air.
However, every movie has fault. I love this movie, but it's hard for me to rewatch. It's not that it's bad, it's more like so much happens that some of the subplots no longer interest you. It's hard to put back on. Once I do I'm completely hooked but actually getting the disc in its player is a fight. I always remember some part that I didn't care for & realize I'm gonna have to go through that whole section again.
Still, I adore it. Seeing everyone come together is the best feeling. And they do it exquisitely."
"Decent movie. It's somewhat entertaining, but it's biggest problem lies with its antagonist, Apocalypse. He is poorly developed."
