"Oh my god I hated this movie so much. It was so under thought you can tell they just pooped this movie out without a second thought. The nun is a cool and creepy character but only in bite size pieces and they shove her so far up your ass in this movie I can’t take her Seriously anymore. She a joke and has been. Haha but Seriously the worst horror movie I’ve seen in some time and I saw it in theaters..I’m sorry me. "
"I've only seen The Conjuring movies, not The Nun or Annabelle movies. I'm watching the movies in chronological order as opposed to release date order. The Nun took place in 1952 and is the first to occur in The Conjuring universe. The Nun II took place in 1956 and is the second to occur. Next up will be Annabelle: Creation, which took place in 1958. I'll be watching it tomorrow.
I really enjoyed this movie but I have one small complaint (besides the poor acting of one of the young nuns in the movie). I'm not a fan of jump scares. Not that I jump very often, mostly because they are so expected. In my opinion, a good horror movie relies on jump scares & aren't always very original. A great horror story doesn't need to rely on jump scares. It Follows is an excellent example of a great horror story. The Nun has several jump scares & yet I didn't find it overly scary. I'm certain that if I were to actually be placed in those circumstances, I'd pee my pants, die of a heart attack, and then pee some more. As a movie goer, I'm probably a bit too desensitized. My daughter thought this one was scarier than the second one but liked the second one a bit more. I think they were about equal in the scary department but I did also like the second one a little more.
We watched this movie last night & The Nun II tonight. I think it was more enjoyable watching them back-to-back. Just a little heads up though. The Nun II is currently on Hulu, & I'm pretty sure Hulu was given a version of the movie that had been edited for a tv movie slot. There were several points in the movie where the scene stopped abruptly, had a moment of black screen, then started the next scene, as if that was where a commercial break had been placed. It happens more often towards the end of the movie, which makes sense if you've ever seen how commercial breaks occur on television shows/movies. Those moments are jarring & take you out of the movie so be aware of that.

"A spine-tingling masterpiece that left me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The atmospheric cinematography and hauntingly beautiful setting create a sense of dread that lingers long after the credits roll. The performances, especially by the lead actress, were exceptional, drawing me deeper into the eerie narrative. The suspenseful storyline kept me guessing, and the jump scares were executed with precision. This film pays homage to classic horror while delivering a fresh and terrifying experience. "The Nun" is a must-see for any horror enthusiast, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Five stars for its ability to chill to the bone and leave a lasting impression!"
"I may or may not have watched these out of order (my review for Nun II is coming), but I was underwhelmed, especially considering my love for the Conjuring universe.
Pretty simple - a possessed nun that involves very dark hallways, a spooky eerie feeling, creepy makeup, loud noises, and a ton of jump scares.
Taissa, you’re better than this. "
