"Honestly, I know that a lot of people say that Monsters University was pointless, that doing a prequel to Monsters Inc. (one of their all-time greatest movies) is a wash, but I seriously disagree. What it lacks in the original’s story, it makes up for in worldbuilding, character dynamic, and amazingly creative designs. The movie honestly gets a hundred times better, ironically, when they’re kicked out of class, and Mike’s journey of realizing he’s not scary but utilizing his strengths to show everyone else around him their true potential is amazing. It’s nowhere close to Inside Out, Up, or Monsters Inc. perfection, but I’d put in on par with Brave, Toy Story 2, and A Bug’s Life as “Tier 2” Pixar. "
