"Such a fantastic first outing for director Rian Johnson. The dialogue is the real stand out. Everyone talks like they're in "The Maltese Falcon," but they're teenagers in a high school so every scene that would feel old hat ends up feeling fun and exciting. Still holds up after all these years and a stronger murder mystery than "Glass Onion" or "Knives Out.""
"Rian Johnson is a master of mystery, it’s no wonder he’s go on to make knives out and glass onion with this as his ambitious debut. such a fun compelling watch with genuinely thrilling and dark moments. this is a movie MADE to inspire filmmakers, look up facts about this production it’s amazing this film embodies the love of storytelling in every way. 9.6-10"

"Great neo-noir movie that is a little dark but a little tongue-in-cheek the whole time. Pulp-fiction plus Twin Peaks plus South Park"

"It's a Sam Spade-esque hardboiled detective mystery in a highschool setting. They play it straight, there are a few funny/campy parts, but for the most part they commit to the premise and it works with a smidge of suspension of disbelief. Even the slang used in the movie could have been cheesy, but it all clicks really nicely with the performances."
