"Such a riveting film! This is basically Sam Raimi's version of FARGO, but much more serious (I may end up prefering this film to FARGO actually). Given that both Sam Raimi and the Coens were not only roomates in their early careers, but also helped each other out during that time period, it's easy to see why. It is a huge stylistic departure for Raimi himself, and yet it still works beautifully. I was particularly impressed by the usage of the snowy Minnesota setting to build a foreboding atmosphere and tension to the deceit and double-crossing that occurs in the story. Phenomenal writing and especially acting by a committed cast. Bill Paxton is easily the film's MVP (I am shocked he did not get an Oscar nomination for this) along with Billy Bob Thornton (well deserved nomination for him), as well as Bridget Fonda and Brent Briscoe. Great cinematography and score too. Highly recommended."

"A simple plan that goes sour literally.
I love how the plot of the movie actually feels like it could be something that could truly happen.
Everyone's roles were well done and not over done to the amount of getting tired of an actor.
This is truly an underrated gem of a suspenseful thriller with a great storyline and solid performances.
If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend giving it a watch. "
