"Gotta mention this movie right quick. I saw this last year before I was on Likewise or I probably would've made a rec right after. It was a YouTube video recommendation that just looked so different that I watched it right away. Basically Dave makes a maze 🤪 out of cardboard boxes in his living room that once you enter becomes a full size labyrinth on the inside. He gets lost and, despite his warnings not to come in, his friends come to rescue him thinking he's being silly. Then it becomes this hard to describe adventure with practical effects, paper machete effects, maybe CGI, puppets, maybe animation...... seriously, it's awesome, but hard to describe so just watch the trailer 🙃. There are times where it's kinda creepy in a creepy kinda way. Like when there is blood, it's actually red confetti. There are traps, puzzles, and even a minotaur (oh my!). I also just noticed it's free on lots of apps, but the fact that it's on Shudder is interesting. Seriously, go watch the trailer and tell me you are not curious because there isn't anything like this that I've seen before. I also just read the other reviews and I didn't see not 1 negative comment at all 😃. I'm pretty secure on giving this an 8/10 if for no other reason that it's damn original and visually inventive. And no, David Bowie doesn't try to stop them from reaching the end 😁 🦉"
"Watching it, I felt like this movie was specifically made for me and my tastes. The only thing that would have made it perfect is if it was a bit gayer, but I know that's a personal thing. This movie got so incredibly creative with cardboard. The maze was obviously the star of the show. The amount of inventive ways they were able to make all of these whimsical traps and rooms out of nothing but cardboard, with the occasional bit of cloth or wood or light bulbs thrown in, was truly incredible. It was whimsical and strange, the character's conflicts were all very relatable. Watching this movie was an amazing journey."
