"What a great monster movie. The original still holds up so well. Henry Frankenstein brings to life a creature, and gives him no training in humanity. He shows him no kindness. Instead, he is the most understood and pathetic made man. The only actor miscast was the grumpy father Baron Frankenstein. "
"Shocktober 2024:
It's Frankenstein. Even if you haven't seen the original you've probably seen enough parodies and homage to construct it pretty faithfully. The whole movie's Cinematic language has seeped deep into the collective cannon. It's intimidatingly influential. What, am I gonna give it a 3? It invented horror traditions that are alive today. Also I was kinda drifting through it (not the movies fault. I had a long day.) So I'm not gonna rate it but it's worth watching on historical merit if nothing else."
"It's good, but not as good as I thought it would be considering it's the most talked about Frankenstein movie. Dwight Frye is in it, though. Love that guy."
