It was exactly as titled: Sweetbitter. Full of joy and misery, the days intertwined as this young woman moves from home to NYC. This book definitely doesn't slow down for you, just as the city moves on day by day. Experience Tess's first year on her own of hard work, love, and life in this novel filled with the intricacies of mundane and extraordinary.

I truly enjoyed this book. It's difficult to describe without sharing any plot devices--but I will give you this: it was enthralling and kept me up at night wondering what the next moves were for the characters. You'll enjoy this book if you have a fond memory of Shakespeare and a stomach for unfortunate events.
