"Whole review deleted. So I guess I can condense thoughts better.
Wanted to watch this ever since I seen trailer.
The theme isn’t bad just if it had a more satisfying build up it would be better.
That entire first episode really is just so awkward and she’s getting pushed around constantly. Plus THAT scene was so sad.It might honestly be my favorite episode in the show.
I always love dark comedy. Well I think mainly British humor.
First three definitely more comedy others a lot more intense.
But thoroughly enjoyed it. The kills are brutal. Plus Ella does an amazing job making me believe it.
Plus the reporter scenes. Loved those a lot. It’s very simple things but really enjoyed those scenes. Mainly just cause never really seen that so focused on in a show.
A certain storyline that starts on the 4th or 3rd episode could be improved on for sure. Won’t spoil. Think it could work but it definitely needs something. No one is probably going to even know what I am talking about but anyways.
The plot twist was😔. It was probably the best scene in the show but. Don’t know how I am going to enjoy the show as much next season.
Some of the dialogue. Well mot even some two of the lines made me cringe.
Mainly the one with bullying. They immediately saved it I guess but still was hard to get through.
Plus tik tok being mentioned. It makes sense with the character for sure. But even in the scene everyone is forcefully laughing. Which was a little awkward."
"For anyone familiar with Ella Purnell from shows such as "Yellowjackets" or "Sweetbitter," one might enjoy "Sweetpea" where Ella plays the lead role in this short, 6-episode British series (on Starz). The genres I see given this are: dark comedy, crime, comedy drama, psychological thriller. It is rated TV-MA (adult content, adult language, graphic violence). I also liked "Sweetbitter," where Ella had the lead role as well, however I liked "Sweetpea" EVEN MORE. "Sweetpea" was a very different role for Ella from the part she played in "Sweetbitter." I did not see "Yellowjackets" YET, but now I want to see that series and more of her work after seeing two other series Ella Purnell has starred in. I'm absolutely thrilled to pieces that "Sweetpea" has been renewed for S2!! I HAVE TO see what happens after that last episode in S1, OMG...
I wrote the below EARLIER, before having viewed this show:
I found this new dark comedy/drama series called "Sweetpea" with Ella Purnell of "Sweetbitter" starring in it. I see it's to premiere Thursday, 10/10/24 on Starz. Somehow I get the feeling that this Rhiannon Lewis (played by Ella Purnell) is not so sweet as the title suggests, lol. Looks kind of interesting though per the preview:

cc: @miaparker as I know you watched/liked "Sweetbitter"/Ella Purnell, provided you were not already aware of "Sweetpea" and may possibly be interested"

"If you’re looking for a rollercoaster of emotions, Sweetpea is a must-watch serial killer show . This film delivers a gripping and unpredictable ride, filled with characters you’ll love, hate, and sometimes both at the same time. From start to finish, it keeps you on edge with its intricate plot, dark humor🚎, and psychological twists that leave a lasting impression. I give this a 9/10 just because the ending had me wanting more 😩 trust me you need to watch it 🍿 don't blame me if you get mad at the end .they should definitely have a season 2 "
