Sotobamura is a small village with around 1300 residents; so small the village isn't even connected to a single highway. An isolated village in which old customs, such as the burial of the dead, are still practiced. One day, the bodies of three people are found dead. Although Ozaki Toshio, the village's lone doctor, feels uncertain, he treats the deaths as a normal occurrence. However, in the days following, the villagers start to die one after the other.

"If you love dark and dramatic fantasy based animes and fresh takes on creatures like vampires and werewolves then you'll LOVE Shiki. It was one of the first dark fantasy anime I watched and I loved it so much I rewatched it 3 times. "

"Graphic violence warning! Slow paced show at the start but just give it a bit more time. The character designs are very weird and because of that the tone is odd since you're seeing these goofily designed characters get killed and supposed to take it seriously for the most part. I think the most interesting part is the setting. I don't think I can think of another story that has these particular supernatural beings in a small rural Japanese town."
