"Hmm I think this is the first classic I’ve read as an adult. It almost feels like based on the other works I’ve read, no matter how I review this it will fall short of all the “hype” this book is accompanied by. Santiago is a simple shepherd but already in that simplicity there is courage and uniqueness because to be a shepherd he already has begun fighting the norm. His parents wanted him to be a priest, he wanted to travel so shepherding was his solution. Already at the beginning of this story you learn that Santiago is a man that cherishes experiences over anything else. That’s something I can identify with, many times we focus more on the end goal that we forget the joys of what we experience on the way. I think that’s maybe one thing The Alchemist represents, the destination is important, but so is the journey. Without that incredulous journey the building blocks would never have been placed that took Santiago from a shepherd boy to the man who turned himself into the wind. "
"It was a really boring back in the beginning, but ever since the boy met fatima, i was invested! i don’t like historical book or mystery so this wasn’t really the type of books i would be reading, but it wasn’t too bad… i finished it in one night."
