This #1 New York Times bestseller is a "bold and subversive retelling of the goddess's story" that brilliantly reimagines the life of Circe, formidable sorceress of The Odyssey (Alexandra Alter, TheNew York Times). In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child -- not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power -- the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves. Threatened, Zeus banishes her to a deserted island, where she hones her occult craft, tames wild beasts and crosses paths with many of the most famous figures in all of mythology, including the Minotaur, Daedalus and his doomed son Icarus, the murderous Medea, and, of course, wily Odysseus. But there is danger, too, for a woman who stands alone, and Circe unwittingly draws the wrath of both men and gods, ultimately finding herself pitted against one of the most terrifying and vengeful of the Olympians. To protect what she loves most, Circe must summon all her strength and choose, once and for all, whether she belongs with the gods she is born from, or the mortals she has come to love. With unforgettably vivid characters, mesmerizing language, and page-turning suspense, Circe is a triumph of storytelling, an intoxicating epic of family rivalry, palace intrigue, love and loss, as well as a celebration of indomitable female strength in a man's world.#1 New York Times Bestseller -- named one of the Best Books of the Year by NPR, the Washington Post, People, Time, Amazon, Entertainment Weekly, Bustle, Newsweek, the A.V. "Whimsical and frustrating in the way that only a retelling by Madeline Miller can be! With how quickly I was reading this one I had to constantly remind myself it was taking place over centuries! It is a fantastic book about love but more importantly the twisted journey of learning to love yourself. Circe is such a fantastic character and reading this book was oddly relatable despite the fantastic situations. Goddesses and heroic figures were seen in a way that made them as dimensional as the rest of the novel. I truly can not wait for another book by Madeline Miller."
"I did not love this one as much as A Song of Achilles but the ending was still so impactful! After further research and reading how Circe is a metaphor for how the patriarchy treats women I am just so MAD! I’d like to think that Circe got what she wanted in the end but I’m sure that’s not what happened"
"Took me a long time to read as I read it in between a few other books but that still didn’t take away how immersing it was everytime I picked it back up which is amazing. Def a 5 star read and if Song of Achilles is good (haven’t read it yet) she’ll be my next instant buy author!! I love her writing "

Greek mythology has been fun to read especially in the summer there really something about it that gives me summer vibes and this did have a summer feel to it I do say that loosely lol Majority of the book takes place on a deserted island Circe's only companions are lions and fox's and a few other Forest animal I loved circe she had her fault but I came to love her over all i think she absolutely iconic for that pig scene like are you kidding she's living her best life she's literally a witch on an islands with a bunch of animals who
occasionally tortures men I enjoyed her story and how she grows as a character"
