"I am a sobbing emotional wreck right now. This book DESTROYED me. I knew it was gonna be sad. I knew what was going to happen to both Patroclus and Achilles. I thought I would be okay. It didn’t matter. I fell in love with their love and the inevitably tragic ending of their story devastated me. Like I’m not sure how to process it. This has to be one of the most beautiful books I have ever read and I’m not sure if I’ll ever recover from Madeline Miller’s words."
"The first half of this was incredibly boring, but there's so much hype around the book that I couldn't DNF it. I didn't feel attached to the characters and the plot was also kinda bland. Then the real drama began and while I still don't understand why so many love it, I was able to get excited for some moments and enjoy the end. I'll say I'm a "fan" of Patroclus but still not one of Achilles. 3/5🏺"
"It was a great read. It definitely wasn’t as devastatingly sad as I’d heard but I was kind of relieved about that to be honest. "

"I absolutely adored this book! It was so emotional, and the writing was beautiful. As a lover of Greek mythology, I found this book to be very well done. Though it was definitely written with a modern audience in mind, the plot stayed true to the original story, which I greatly appreciated. Patroclus was a minor character in The Iliad, but he was always somewhat intriguing, so seeing everything and everyone from Patroclus' POV in this book was very interesting. Through him, we were able to see all the many facets of Achilles. He and Achilles were both quite lovable, and were so sweet together. This book gave me all the feels, and I will definitely be checking out Madeline Miller’s other works! 10/10 would recommend!"
