"Maybe this movie caught me on a bad day, maybe I’m just deeply uninterested in gang films in general. But after years of hearing how good this film was, I’m unimpressed. The bad slowmo and distracting synth music didn’t help, either, nor did the REALLY cheesy CSI Miami vibes. Maybe for its time it was revolutionary, but the tropes have become so rote by now in the western world that I just didn’t enjoy it that much."
"This movie is basically Wong Kar-Wai meets Michael Mann, and I loved it. Who knew adding elements of Soap Opera to a cop drama would yield a great result!?! The acting in this film is consistently great from beginning to end. I enjoyed the use of Dutch angles to tell the story visually. Speaking of storytelling, I also loved how this story was told through its cinematography. While some of the soap opera elements of the film through me off, it gave the film's tone a certains je-ne se quois. The Departed is the better adaptation, but this film is unique enough to look at both as two completely different, yet amazing works of art.

"The 1st in movie series The Departed is ripped from. Infernal Affairs better in my opinion."

"Somewhat melodramatic in my case with its direction and acting but, a good film nonetheless. The remake: the departed is better imo"
