"Slow as molasses, and I didn’t like how it just kind of ended, BUT it was still suspenseful & good (but NOT GREAT & not worth rewatching, IMO). — Chock full of interesting dialog & curious, strong-willed characters. The performances are really great—by everyone!!! But Jennifer Jason Leigh’s performance was awesome 😎 👏🏽 My favorite character was the sheriff, played by Walton Goggins whom I’m not familiar with. ⚠️ Super bloody!🩸 P.S. The more I see him act in a different role, the more & more I just love Samuel L. Jackson…. I think the first movie I ever saw him act in was A TIME TO KILL, which I remember him being particularly good in & it was a good movie with other great actors. I’d love to see him in JUNGLE FEVER; I’ve never seen that film."

Filled to the brim with some of my favorite shots and sequences to exist in a movie: those split diopters slicing the space like warm flesh, the 65mm hue of blue, a flashback tuned to the boiling rage of a racist, a surprise from under the cellar-door. No one else could've made this movie. Not sure you'd want them to."
