Vibrant, magical, stunning, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, breathtaking, impressionistic, sleek, did I say beautiful? It's one of the most beautiful films ever made in terms of its visuals. Again, no hyperbole here. Emile Hirsch is fantastic as Speed, bringing a calm and serious persona that completely sells his determination as a racer. Other notables include Matthew Fox as Racer X, one of the zaniest and coolest characters, and John Goodman as Speed's father, sporting some great lines and bringing real heart to his character. The sound design is incredible, with car engines roaring and tires squealing prominently during the races. And the RACES! Oh my word, the races. Fast, intense, over the top, crazy, silly, and beautifully crafted. Overall, Speed Racer is simply one of the most fantastical and stunning cinematic experiences."
