"When I was younger, this book series had me on a chokehold because I was into anything fantasy (like most kids that age) to the point where I actually own them. The books are so creative and the cast is close to what I imagined. It's a lighthearted, family movie (especially nice for fathers and daughters). The effects are great for the time and brings back a lot of nostalgia with every watch. It reminds me of "Bridge to Terabithia" in the sense that it handles real life problems, but doesn't forget the elements of old-fashioned fantasy. This film's an escape and the little creature, Thimbletack, is adorable to watch. Freddie Highmore's great in here and I like how his roles are different in some way (him playing twins and all). I do feel that something's missing and it could be that the characters need more development -to an extent- or that the enemies could've been "eviler," however it's still enough for me. I hope the upcoming Spiderwick will honor this original. I'd rate this movie a 7/10 🖤"
