summerHad low expectations to start with, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't like the "After" movies (๐Ÿ’€). Main leads had great chemistry -aside from the fact that they're STEP SIBLINGS- and car scenes were entertaining. Plot wasn't dry. Their chemistry's tension is DEFINITELY there. I didn't read the book, but it was funny seeing how the love interest was so into illegal "hobbies". The movie also had a darker theme that was explored which made it more enjoyable, but the script was meh. Overall, I'd rate it a 5/10 considering it being a film adaptation. Soundtrack was CRAZY GOOD. WATCH so we can get a sequel!! Edit: I was def delulu writing this๐Ÿ’€

summerLoved the casting and the comedic take on the famous Romeo & Juliet. Rosaline and her love interest have great chemistry and humor was overall great. Was an easy watch and one of my favorite movies to watch whenever. They did have it on Disney for 1 DAY - Valentine's Day lol - and wish they kept it on longer. The way they portrayed music in the movie was hilarious too. SO UNDERRATED. I'd rate it an 8/10 ๐Ÿ–ค

summerThis is -by far- one of the few productions that have successfully portrayed a fantasy romance. I've never read the book, but Diana (Teresa Palmer) and Matthew's (Matthew Goode) story is incredibly well done! When I watched it during its release in 2018, I knew it was before it's time and wished it had received more recognition for the script/writing and acting quality. I've always liked these actors and the projects they took on, but together their chemistry really made this show blossom and for a romance between not one, but two fantastical creatures (witch and vampire) they really nailed their character's dynamics. Though there were stereotypes here and there, I never thought of it as predictable. I wish some of the side characters were casted differently but, again, it's pretty good for a series adaptation and you can't get everything especially in newer/more recent productions. Other reasons that intrigued me was that it was more on the mature side of fantasy romance and the SFX. It being on the mature side meant being exposed to different scenarios which was such a breath of fresh air. There wasn't this constant annoying need that they had to be together and attached at the hip (there's a reason for their attraction) and they were own characters with actual depth. I hardly remember their romance being stupid and unrealistic and that's partly why I shared it with my family (who wants to waste their time on a shallow romance?). The SFX were eye-opening and magical especially with Diana and her part in the occult. I'd give anything to watch this with a blank slate for the plot, their romance, and the period jumping (time-travel). Smaller things like the outfits/costumes really served their purpose and were beautifully made and the soundtrack did its job. There was this specific scene that played Haley Reinhart's "White Rabbit" and that was phenomenal and HOT when I first watched it. I'd rate this a 9/10 ๐Ÿ–ค because it exceeded my expectations and I'd watch again!
