"Alright, I’m doing it; I’m jumping on THE PENGUIN train already! YES, after just one episode… This might be the BEST series I’ve watched in a VERY long time!! It feels like perfection — Colin Farrell’s transformation into The Penguin is extraordinary, the gritty tone of Gotham is spot on, the set design is incredible, and ALL of the performances are top-tier! I cannot wait for more! As @djcount put it, the only bad thing was… it ended. ▪️Do you need any backstory or background info to watch this? I say NO, not at all. It draws you in QUICKLY — and I’m not a huge superhero/DC Universe watcher, but this is already FANTASTIC!! 🐧 ⭐️5/5⭐️"

"I've never really been a big fan of the DC comics or their characters as a whole. Most of their characters always seemed to be too cartoonish and mostly silly, with a few exceptions. So I was hesitant to even watch this series. But I was wrong. What they did with the character of The Penguin is truly remarkable. They totally reinvented Oswald from the ridiculous comic book counterpart, to a truly complex version that is firmly anchored in reality, which is exactly what was missing for me. Even something as simple as shortening his last name from Cobblepot to Cobb seems to legitimize the character and erase the absurdity. Colin Farrell's transformation is obviously amazing so to mention it seems redundant. But I feel he is destined for multiple awards for his performance. In fact, there are many notable performances in this series by a wide array of talented actors. Even though it is set in Gotham, there is no mention of Batman or any other "superheroes" (except for a very subtle nod in the final scene of the season finale). That is so refreshing and highly appreciated. Instead, we get a riveting mob/crime story that has compelling character development and just the right amount of teeth. I'm sure you'll find yourself rooting for our antihero just as I did. I highly recommend this series and I look forward to seeing where it goes from here. 10/10"

"So perfect. A perfect mix of wins and loses between the two main factions. Easy to root for the “bad guys” by humanizing them but then remind us why they are villains. Looking forward to The Batman 2. I’m loving this direction they’re going in. "
