Set in England in the early 19th century, Pride and Prejudice tells the story of Mr and Mrs Bennet's five unmarried daughters after the rich and eligible Mr Bingley and his status-conscious friend, Mr Darcy, have moved into their neighbourhood. While Bingley takes an immediate liking to the eldest Bennet daughter, Jane, Darcy has difficulty adapting to local society and repeatedly clashes with the second-eldest Bennet daughter, Elizabeth.

"Although I like the 2005 version better I think this one still has it’s own charms! Like I am obsessed with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy and I might like him more then Matthew Macfadyen’s version not that I don’t like his version at all I just think that with Colin you can see the internal conflictions and desires in his eyes much better which adds more depth to the performance…that and he plays a better accidental a-hole which makes me understand Elizabeth’s distain for him at first. Overall I think this is much subtler version which is nice and is a very good alternative option if you can’t get ahold of the 2005 version and maybe you’ll like even more who knows!"

"This was so adorable and funny. I really enjoyed this adaptation and the fact that it was a miniseries, we got to live in the world a lot longer and linger on moments that are briefly touched on in the film adaptations. The scenery and locations are gorgeous in this, though slightly blandly filmed. As a huge fan of the 2005 film, I can't help but compare them. Both adaptations have excellent lead actors, but the film captures an urgency an intensity between its leads that I don't think the series does. Though Ehle and Firth have chemistry, the series makes their slow-burn romance much quieter and a bit stiff. The editing made me laugh a few times. Were times so simple in the 90s that audiences could endure a floating Colin Firth head fading in and out of frame without laughing? Incredible. I think I'll be watching and rewatching all the Pride and Prejudice adaptations soon, so hold onto your butts for the Mormon version and the Bollywood take. I wonder if The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is on here, I think the miniseries is tied with the Youtube adaptation in terms of rank. 3.5/5 "
