Shirayuki was a young girl born with unique apple-red hair. She meets a famous but foolish Prince Raji, who falls in love with her at first sight and orders her to become his concubine. With nowhere else to go, Shirayuki cuts her hair and escapes to a neighboring country. While traversing through the forests, she meets a young boy, Zen, who helps her after she boldly cures his wounds but then gets poisoned by an apple given to Shirayuki. Meanwhile, Prince Raji sends out henchmen to search for her. What will happen to Shirayuki? What is Zen's true character? A refreshing fantasy story between an optimistic heroine and a prince who constantly stays on her watch.

"For someone who has always despised the snow white tale I was surprised to find out how much I enjoy this spin-off of that classic. But man do I!
It's clever, fun, surprising, entertaining, full of action, great characters, amazing relationships, beautiful shots, and of course some amazing red hair!
I truly enjoy this show, more than I ever thought I would. Honestly, it's hard figuring out who the original characters are supposed to represent in this adaptation outside snow white and the prince. Those are the only ones still clear. The characters are deep and not pushover in the slightest. Each one has a background you don't quite expect and one You're more than ready to dive into.
It's not perfect by any means but you'd be surprised how many adore this show. I figured it be just for the girl audiences yet a very straight male anime fan friend of mine brought this show up unprompted when talking about his top 5 animes. He didn't quite mention it in his top 5, but he did bring it up asking if anyone had seen it and raved about how good it was. Having seen it as well I was happy to share that sentiment. Those who had seen it at the time also praised it, so I know it appeals to a wide range of viewers.
I believe it's because of both the action and relationships. Nothing is shallow in this show. And I truly mean that, even if the first episode may suggest otherwise. "
