The world's favorite singer is on trial for murdering a glamorous athlete . . . but in a ruthless world of power and privilege, life and death aren't what they seem.It was the trial that electrified the world. Not just because of the defendant, Maggie Bradford, the woman whose songs captivated the world's heart. Not just because of the victim, Will Shepard, the world's most glamorous athlete. But also because everyone said Maggie had murdered not just one husband, but two. And because in Maggie's world -- the world she feared and despised but could not escape, the world of the powerful, the rich, and the ruthless -- both death and life could never be what they seemed. From James Patterson, bestselling author of the Alex Cross and Women's Murder Club series, comes a brilliantly realized thriller that will shatter your expectations . . . and hold every last one of your nerves in thrall with each twist of the plot and every turn of the page.

"This book was way better than both Liar Liar & Little Boy Blue. This is my second favorite in the series - The Doll's House is my first. I thought this was going to be a lot cheesier than it was, but it was really well-done. I still want Arlidge to write a character who is transgender but isn't looked at negatively by most of the other characters because of their lifestyle. There's just not much of a balance there.

I hope the next book stays on path with this one and is good as well."

"Book # 19: Hide and Seek by Dianne Haley

Maria has remarried, and unlike her unreformed first husband, her dear second husband, Frederick, is sweet, kind and incredibly proper. Now properly married, they. can't keep their hands to themselves, but interruptions pop up at every turn. Maria proposes they play parlour games. But during a game of Hide and Seek, Maria finds more than she was expecting.

A super quick, steamy, "historical" book. I was able to read the book in under 45 minutes. I don't generally read short pages (goodreads says it was 32 pages), so I found it hard to rate this book. It's not long enough to build character development, but within these short pages, you did get a feel for Maria and Frederick. It's definitely a great book for a quick read and if you like a steamy scene.

I rate this book as 3.5"
