I'm… conflicted about this book. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't at all what the marketing and synopsis implied it would be. This should never have been marketed as Romantasy or as enemies to lovers. The romance was barely there, and I do mean BARELY, and the love interest was never even CLOSE to being Viv’s enemy. And comparing it to Fourth Wing is a crime! This is a historical fiction/fantasy book with a practically non-existent romance side plot. So, very deceiving marketing, which caught me off guard and annoyed me. Buuuuuttt… once I got over my irritation about it, I ended up genuinely enjoying the book. For a debut novel, I thought the author did pretty well! Although there were some pacing issues, I enjoyed the overall writing style. The world building was really good and fairly complex, the plot was fun and engaging, and the character development was sooo well done! Vivien wasn't an overly lovable character, but I really did enjoy her character development. The dragons were, of course, why I picked this book up, and I obviously adored them! I wish we could have seen a bit more of them, but I'll take what I can get lol! Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I'm glad I gave it a chance! It has a very open ending, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting a sequel! Alternate historical London setting, corrupt class system & government, rebellion, high stakes, morally grey FMC, dark academia, complex world building, and Dragons! My biggest issue with this book really was simply the poor marketing. "

"Would recommend if you are interested in following how our teenage girl protagonist researches how dragons communicate with each other. However, I found the main protagonist to be annoying and not very likeable. Also, I found the teen characters to be typecast, prédictive and not very fleshed out."
