What happens when my brother's rival becomes my secret crush? Noah Slade is a Formula 1 legend in the making. Focused. Unapproachable. Ruthless on and off the track. A man with walls higher than the Grand Canyon. And my brother's new teammate. I want more of the prince who disguises himself as the villain. But while I crave a happy ending, he wants to destroy his. Maya Alatorre is a forbidden temptation. An ambitious post-grad I should stay far away from. And chaos wrapped with a bow. We're a ticking time bomb, about one wrong move away from exploding. I want to trip the wire, detonating together in passion and pain. Because in the end, all's fair in lust and war.

"3/5 ⭐️ dual pov and available on KU. When I started this book I sort of forgot I don’t love Lauren Asher’s writing. I find her books very surface level. Character development is always superficial. She does a lot of telling and not as much showing so I don’t end up as connected to the story. Like in this one it talks about how the mmc goes to therapy and cries but doesn’t really go into any details. Also with such an awesome setting traveling for F1 I wanted so muck more from the story! It wasn’t bad but it won’t be on any recommendation lists of mine. 2.5/5 spice. It’s a slow burn and basically nothing happens in this book spice or plot wise until after the 50% mark. "
"I love this story; I mean the grumpy sunshine trope, brother’s teammate/rival trope, found family, beautiful locations, F1 in itself, etc. are all just amazing. I love both Maya and Noah, but also, all of the side characters are so pivotal in their story and character development. Also, the shoutout to therapy did not go unnoticed. I am really excited to read the rest of this series!"

"I usually enjoy Lauren Asher's books, this was just not one of them. I will not be continuing the rest of this series for the following reasons.

* spoilers ahead *

First, the brother-sister relationship in this book almost made me stop reading it in the first few chapters. The jealousy and possessiveness from Santi when she spent time with other people made me very uncomfortable.

Second, there was little to no character development in this book. The few chapters of Noah "seeking help to better himself for a relationship" were so rushed it seemed like it didn't happen, while the rest of the book seemed like an entirely new Noah. (Maya girl, you can do SO much better.) Most characters were completely unlikable and whiney.

Third, there was no plot to keep my attention. Normally romcoms have the miscommunication-trope, which I hate, but I would've loved that compared to the complete lack of plot here. Everytime something would happen, it was quickly resolved and glossed over.

Overall, I'm not a fan of this book. 2/5 stars simply because I managed to finish it.

The following is NOT a reason for the 2 star rating and will be discussed in a review on the audiobook site instead.

The narrators were terrible. The voices for other characters were always different. The accents would come and go in dialog and also would change often. These were not good choices for audiobook narration."
