NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER I see dead people. But then, by God, I do something about it. Odd Thomas never asked for his special ability. He’s just an ordinary guy trying to live a quiet life in the small desert town of Pico Mundo. Yet he feels an obligation to do right by his otherworldly confidants, and that’s why he’s won hearts on both sides of the divide between life and death. But when a childhood friend disappears, Odd discovers something worse than a dead body and embarks on a heart-stopping battle of will and wits with an enemy of exceptional cunning. In the hours to come there can be no innocent bystanders, and every sacrifice can tip the balance between despair and hope. You’re invited on an unforgettable journey through a world of terror and transcendence to wonders beyond imagining. And you can have no better guide than Odd Thomas.

"The Odd Thomas series is one of Koontz's best ever. Creepiness, comedy, suspense. Once you read one you have to read them all."

"As most of the other reviews have said.....this book wasn't quite as good as Odd Thomas. There is a bit more swearing and Datora is a really nasty character with some really messed up ideas....there seemed to be a bit more 'talking to oneself' and not enough action....although walking, crawling, running, & climbing thru a decrepit destroyed casino is pretty creepy.....especially when it's filled with ghosts and a mountain lion....YIKES!!! The storyline was most interesting at the very beginning......but as the search went on for Odd's best friend.....the story slowed way down and it was hard to keep my attention at time....save for the witty remarks that Odd would throw out here and there. He really is a very funny and 'odd' character and you can't help but really like him. I will be reading the last 2 novels in this collection and hopefully they will pick up the speed again."

"I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series. And I thought the second book would be as exciting and suspenseful. but it wasn't. it was really slow and seemed to drag on unnecessarily. Everything that happened could have been summed up way faster. There wasn't as much supernatural activity as I would have liked. <br/>I'm trying to decide if I want to try the next book in the series. hopefully it'll be much better."
