San Dan Glotka is one of the most original characters I have ever read. And Logen Nine Fingers subverts the barbarian stereotype by being cautious and curious. Contrasting his split personality The Bloody Nine. Which was introduced in the penultimate chapter Misery. Giving me one of the best listening experiences yet. #firstlaw #grimdark"

craig_stein shared a tip "In the first law series? Either The Heroes or Before They are Hanged. Of all time Eragon and Eldest are favorite cause of nostalgia. And Picture of Dorian Gray is my favorite classic. But I think First Law as a whole is probably my favorite adult fantasy series."

So far, this is very solid writing and what GRRM would probably call 'low-magic' fantasy. It's there, but subtle enough to be interesting. Great character and world development without clutter in setting the atmosphere and visuals."

The writing is really dark like really really dark and the first book is mostly character work but that is where Abercrombie shines. You love to hate his characters and sometimes you feel like you can relate then you start questioning your life choices lol. Hope this helps."
