"“Anything that exists without my knowledge exists without my consent” may be one of the most evil lines in all of literature— somehow more evil than “war is god”, which is uttered by the same character. a deeply moving, deeply ugly book. RIP to one of the best to ever do it "

"While this novel follows the life of a boy growing into adulthood alongside a group of disgusting and vile men, it’s true intent is to show an insight to the life of a victim of a truly evil force that goes by the name of The Judge. Some say there is a balance between good and bad, however this book does not follow the idea of using a scale. I give fair warning to anyone looking to read this story, this is a tale of how dark manhood can be."

"The name says it all - blood. That is pretty much want every minute of this book is filled with. I am going to assume it does has some modicum of historical accuracy, and if so, I am glad that I was not around during the establishing of the West. I will say thought that Richard Poe is an excellent narrator and the only reason I finished a book that I could not figure out the plot of."

"Not my cup of tea, not just for the nature of the content but I also found it extremely hard to read (colloquial language, paragraphs that seemingly go nowhere)."
