"This was a pretty good book. I’d rate it a 4 out of 5 stars. Well written and picks up pretty quickly after the first handful of chapters. I did not see the twist coming at all, but once I put two and two together, everything made sense. The love story wasn’t as prominent in this novel, unlike many others I’ve read. "
"This book was picked up specifically to be a pallet cleaner. I read a lot of horror and sometimes I like to chill out. I love romance books but don't read them much due to my distaste of the extremely popular romance novels being pumped out nowadays. I like Sparks though so I picked up a random novel by him at my local library. It turned out to be quite good (as expected). Nothing stunned me about this novel, but it didn't need to. It had likable characters, an interesting narrator (actually quite like the little twist with him), and enough mystery to keep you engaged once the romance is heavily underway.
The ending makes me think a lot about what kind of person I am under pressure. I would like to say I would do much better than Miles. That's the thing though, isn't it? You don't know what happens when you lose control. Emotions radically change what you consider logical at any given moment. Humans are greatly controlled by their emotions, much more than they would like to believe. I've run into this countless times and it brings quite an interesting conversation when you compare it to a criminal justice system... but that's a talk for another day. I'm sure I'll cross paths with Sparks in the future."
