When female wolf shifter Taryn Warner first encounters Trey Coleman, an alpha male wolf shifter with a dangerous reputation, she's determined to resist his charms. After all, Trey--who was only fourteen when he defeated his own father in a duel, winning the right to be alpha of his pack--can't have anything to offer the talented healer besides trouble, or so she thinks. Taryn finds herself drawn in by Trey's forceful demeanor and arctic-blue eyes, and she eventually agrees to enter an uneasy alliance with him. If the two succeed in convincing their respective packs that they've chosen each other as mates, Trey will win valuable political allies, while Taryn will escape an odious arranged mating. But there are a lot of potential pitfalls to this plan--including the very real possibility that the wolf shifters, overwhelmed by their growing attraction to each other, will be unable to maintain the clear heads needed to pull off the deception.

"Honestly this was closer to a 4 and then BAM annoying trope, and so long. Taryn and Trey strike up a deal to save each other, and as it usually goes, a bond made out of a business transaction becomes more than that. Their banter is cute, and the characters are evenly perfect matched. This isn’t some weak girl and strong hero. This is a strong badass girl being resourceful of a hero with an opportunity. We also meet a lot of side characters that really add to the story, and I’m sure are set ups for books to follow in the series. I really love Taryn as an FMC. She is strong willed and knows exactly what she wants out of life, regardless of everything thrown her way. She’s a very good depiction of how a strong woman doesn’t have to sacrifice that strength to “keep” a man. Trey as an MC is strong willed and everything we want in dark morally gray characters, down to not knowing what love is and how to show it. But really the pièce de résistance in this story is Greta, but also #justiceforLJ. All in all, it was ok. Happy reading! "
"Easy read to get into lots of Alpha energy and steamy moments. "

"I've been in a book-slump for while now, with every book I read or started either suck or were average at best. But this one took me out of my slump.

It was sexy, the plot and story were intriguing.

It's one of the first "wolf" books I've ever read so maybe that's why I was so intrigued. But I was nonetheless.

I can't wait to continue more books in the series!!"
"2.5 stars really.

This had a rough start. I almost didn't continue on, but so many friends had liked or loved this so I pushed on. It did get better, but there was a lot that left me rolling my eyes or grumbling about.

Taryn was a character I liked and hated at the same time. Wright tried so hard to make her appear strong but it made Taryn stupd. By stupid, I mean she can't control her tongue in situations where she probably should. I would have loved to have seen her use her smarts instead of her sarcasm. Sure, her sarcasm is a defense mechanism. Seeing her trade barbs and trade them better was great. Those times where she traded barbs instead of using her head? Those were the times I had a problem with. It doesn't make her seem strong or intelligent but the opposite. The whole book was Taryn proving she had a sharp tongue. Maybe it should have been a whole book proving Taryn was smart and capable instead.

The whole concept of Trey needing backup and making an alliance was what kept me reading. The meat of the story was here and I really liked the broker a deal turned accidental mate trope. It wasn't a huge surprise or twist, but I enjoyed it anyway. I wish this played a bigger role than Taryn's tongue.

The story is easy to follow and the twist and turns aren't there, but it was a decent read from Kindle Unlimited. I just wish Taryn had better character growth throughout the story."
