"This is an interesting artistic experiment. It was a good movie, but not a great one. It is certainly much more than a behind the scenes look at a theater 🎭 play. The performances are raw and somewhat passionate. It is a man's last chance to get respect from a profession that used to praise him as an actor. He is constantly haunted by a past role than brought him success, and having every other role compared to it. The only thing I had a hard time with was some of Edward Norton's performance, and the fact that there were drumbeats in almost every frame of this movie."

"If you’re interested in the creative process and how celebrity and the profit motive twists artists, this is for you. One of my all time favorites—great performances by a stellar cast and brilliant writing. "

"The camera work and timing of this film is absolutely phenomenal. They only switch cameras three times and everything is in perfect synchronism. Also, the actors, of course, do phenomenal work portraying broken people"
