"This movie was incredible. It portrays someone who is going through a mental illness. I’ve never seen it portrayed this way. I think it’s really innovative."

"“I want to be liked up close.”
This was a genuine, raw portrayal of what living inside the mind of someone with OCD is like. It’s all types of widespread chaos and the underlying, insidious fear of intimacy, connection, and the next moment. Aza struggles day in and day out, constantly at war with herself and, in turn, comes to retreat inward as an immediate, temporary coping mechanism.
Aza’s best friend, Daisy, is on her ever-evolving journey with her assuredly at her side, but conflict and tension do arise because of how all-consuming and intense living with mental illness is and can be like. It gets in the way of life and connection and requires gentleness, grace, patience, and understanding.
Finding love is also a hurdle Aza faces as she fears being in close proximity to people, which changes how she is able to relate and connect. Nothing comes easy but Aza has so much strength and deep-seated determination within her that nothing can get in the way of her dreams, goals, and/or aspirations. She may at times be a frazzled bundle of nerves (who isn’t?!), but finding her calm and quiet, the people that are her peace, is paramount.
This truly was a beautiful story, inside and out, that reflects on pain, grief, and the perils and power of internalization. Aza does after all have a powerful way of looking at the world, with a beyond intuitive mind that is very scientifically-inclined and operates incredibly genuinely and poetically. Watch this if you want to develop a kind of empathy for others suffering with demons they can’t always talk about and also aren’t always as visible. "

"This movie has so many layers it left me smiling and in tears. You can take this at surface value of a young teen romance with a side of neurodivergence, or having a deeper meaning of a humans existence and purpose. As someone that is a healthcare professional I felt this on so many levels and with working with mental health, while also being neurospicy it really resonated with me. If you’re in for a good cry and to walk away thinking a little deeper about life this is the movie for you. "
