"Flee is an animated documentary, a style of film that I would love to see more of. Flee offers us an intimate, complex, and honest look at the life of refugee who spent much of his life on the run. The raw animation style gives the viewers a glimpse into the chaos and uncertainty that Amin faced during the early years of his life. The story is facilitated by Amin's best friend, leading to heartfelt discussions about self-discovery, guilt, and hopelessness."

"Oof. The animated nature of this documentary sometimes made me feel like I’d been there myself, it was that emotionally intense. In an age of increasing refugee populations, I hope watching this movie increases the empathy and understanding people hold towards those losing everything they own and forced to desperate actions. TW: rape offscreen, real footage of dead bodies (this didn’t disturb me but my girlfriend left at that part), general terrorizing of helpless people by corrupt systems."

"Hearing these stories of unimaginable pain and loss is very moving, and at times heartwrenching.
I loved the pacing, and the interview style with memory silhouettes really worked for me. I don't think I've seen another animated film with that type of presentation.
Flee was a powerful experience, better the 2nd time around"

"As you watch this film, think of the heightened sense of awareness required if you were in Amin’s shoes. Think how exhausting it must be constantly looking over your shoulder. Think of the isolation and how unnerving it must be to find no face you can truly trust. The mission of this film is simple. It exists as an artistic expression meant to lure empathy from the shadows."
