"Goodness what was this movie? Joaquin Phoenix is an underrated actor for sure but this movie is the most slow and boring movie ever. Torture "

"My favorite Joaquin Phoenix role to date, not to mention roundhouse performances all around by Philip Seymour and Amy Adams."

"This was an incredible movie with so many interpretations. One article summed it up perfectly for me. We have one man who does not care about the answers to life's most difficult questions and another who cares but has no answers despite pretending to. Freddie had a type of freedom that Dodds envied."

"Joaquin Phoenix should have won the Oscar for his movie (in my opinion), and it's one of PTA's best! Hoffman, Adams and even a pre-Freddie Mercury Rami Malek make this at times challenging films extremely interesting and entertaining. "

"Post WW2 film, though it’s not typical. It’s not wholesome and it stands out among other movies focused on that period. It has rawness that’s driven by Joaquin Phoenix and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. It was recommended to me on the merit of both of them, and I wasn’t disappointed or bored at any point... rather, I was waiting for what they would do next (as individuals and co-characters).
As I was watching I realized that it seemed to be based on Scientology’s beginnings and L. Ron Hubbard as its leader. I found conflicting answers when I looked for the answer to that question. Watch it and draw your own conclusions.
Regardless of who says what about the Scientology question, I’m glad I watched it."

"Joachim Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman embody these men and portray the complexity, self-styled isolation and their need for connection. "
