Jake, full of anger after his father's death, is just starting to find a place for himself at his new Orlando high school - until Ryan, head of an underground MMA fight club, picks Jake out as a prime opponent. After being trounced by Ryan in front of the entire school, Jake begins training under the firm, moral guidance of a MMA master, where he learns how to fight... and how to avoid a fight. But it becomes obvious that a rematch will be inevitable if Jake wants to stop Ryan and his bullying, once and for all.

"This movie was better than I thought and had really entertaining fight sequences. It's so funny to me how movies in the 2000s tend to portray high schoolers as mature and being involved in things like fight clubs, but other than that, it had a decent script. I liked the casting, too, and thought Sean Faris, Cam Gigandet, and Djimon Hounsou put on a good performance. The highlight, for me, was the fighting hands-down. The actors showed a lot of skill and tenacity which was fun to see. They tried to show family growth, but I didn't think that dynamic was done that well -seemed kind of messy. Nonetheless, it's the type of movie that I can watch anytime especially in the background while I do other things. Soundtrack's pretty good as well. Overall, I'd rate this a 7/10 🖤 Watching this makes me feel nostalgic and miss the movies of the 2000s."
