"The trailer for this film was sooooo intriguing, but I was ultimately disappointed. The story was too weird and confusing to follow for my taste. Although it does come to some type of fruition there are still so many unanswered questions. Even though I watched all the way till the end, I'm still not sure what was going on. Not really scary, just bizarre and teetering on being an Art House film... Definitely not for me. 3/10"
"This movie gets the prize for best fever dream! While there is a lot to unpack , this movie is entertaining and down right creepy. It stars with a little teenaged angst then goes to Twin Peaks and then becomes a Cronenberg film and ends in a combination of Kill Bill mixed with black comedy . "
"I thouroughly enjoyed watching this movie, even if I didn't quite fully understand it on a first watch. I thought it was scary and did a great job at reeling the viewer in. It was very original and the writing was done tastefully. I highly reccomend watching Cuckoo if you want a new monster movie to watch. If you are someone sensitive to high pitched noise, then I would recommend maybe skipping this movie. "
"A young girl moved with her dad, stepmom and little sister to some resort after her mother passed away. They are there to help build some hotel for this resort. She wasn’t supposed to be there, but the owner gives her a job to keep her busy. She sees women acting strangely at night and things come to a head when she is chased. No one believes her but an officer. She helps him investigate, and they uncover the sinister reason they are there. I like it when movies take a swing with something unexpected. The reason they are there was original. The setting was nice with the sound design playing a major role. They use this effect that was interesting, but they never really explain it. In fact, that’s my major criticism. They introduce things and only give you a little information. You think they will answer or fill in the blanks later, but they never do. I think they were a little bit too ambitious and should have locked in on what was going one and provided a little more background. I don’t need my hand held, but they needed to give the audience more to work with. Too many unanswered questions and not in a good way. It’s a solid thriller with some cool practical effects, but it’s not for everyone. I think it’s worth a watch just for the twist of what’s going on.
