Alien: Romulus

"Just finished watching this one with my son at the theatre and found myself almost angry at the end of this film! After I've digressed ..this was an entertaining film. I found myself wanting to strangle every cast member with the exception of the robot! That kid (David Jonsson) played the heck out of his part when they let him. The girl from Transformers (Isabela Merced) was so terribly underutilized it was a shame and the lead (Cailee Spaeny) if she was supppsed to be a Ripley type character... failed. There was a little nod to the first film in 1979 that made me quite nostalgic. I guess I wished the crew was larger and more diverse and a bit more bad ass. This was Aliens against a band of snot-nosed kids!"

"I wanted it to be more like the first movie but ended up being more of a monster flick. Didn't quite catch on tension as I had hoped... but it was entertaining nonetheless. "

"With so many great call backs to other Alien movies, this movie feels like it was pulling together a lot of links in the Alien universe. I thought it was action packed, nostalgic, and still different. Genuinely really enjoyed this addition to the universe and think it's one of the best sequels in the series. Some very disturbing scenes that stuck with me and are sure to make people who are a little freaked out by Aliens uncomfortable."

However, the writing is solid and it recaptures the sense of tension that the franchise is known for. The performances are solid, some of them particularly strong. The way the action works is interesting to watch."

"By definition it’s tough to get 5 ⭐️ when you are a part of a franchise. Rumulus, imo, could be a runner-up to the original two. It was entertaining as hell. I, mostly, really enjoyed the multiple references to Aliens. Not to mention, that I just saw it in the biggest IMAX of ny - breathtaking!"

"This has been the Scariest movie of 2024 for me. I genuinely haven't had a movie scare me to the point where I didn't want to look at the screen in years. I fell asleep with the light on. This had everything to do with the ending climax. If you are unfamiliar with the Alien franchise I think you could go watch it and not feel left out of any plot devices. This movie is worth watching for the end alone. "
