"This movie dripping with sensuality with just a touch of cheese which makes for an amazing combination that I find irresistible. This is one of my favorite movies in the vampire genre and why I love vampires to begin with, it show the danger of the vampire but also how seductive they are which in turn makes them even more threating. The costumes in this movie are absolutely gorgeous and are pieces of straight up art, Lucy's white dress is my favorite movie costume of all time! The aesthetics are off the charts with this one!"

"DEEPLY and purposefully cheesy on the highest budget i've ever seen. i'm one of those weirdos who really LIKES the artistry behind matte paintings and set design, so the lack of exterior shots is charming to me. the acting (aside from lucy, van helsing, and dracula) are so ******* wooden it looks like the rest of the actors were browbeaten into exhaustion by take after take. the use of shadowwork reminded me of stage lighting in a play rather than a film. also kinda softcore porny, which adds to the cheese. i've heard someone describe this film as an attempt at making dracula into a tragic byronic figure, but he always came off as a calculated and emotionally manipulative character."
"This is a unique adaptation of the classic novel which seems more interested in capturing its decadence than emphasizing the โhorrorโ aspects of the story. Coppola, who hadnโt done anything on this scale since Apocalypse Now, seems determined to jam every visual idea he could conjure into the film. This leads to some masterful images but also makes the film seem disjointed and overstuffed.
It is amusing to see Keanu Reeves, who is almost universally beloved now, be so horribly miscast in this movie that his performance became a running joke for years after. However, all the other roles are really well cast. (The fact that Hopkins and Waits never did a traveling stage show as Van Helsing and Renfield is a tragedy). All in all, the film is better than its reputation and is worth a watch. 3.5 out of 5 stars"

"At the time of its original release, Dracula was considered an awful movie. Over the years, it's developed a cult following and is much more appreciated. The many looks of Dracula, along with the main characters, are all costume inspiring. Combined with the beautiful score, the age-old tale is beautifully told, making the film is a great choice for a haunting Halloween evening. #Halloween #Thriller #Oct8"
