In the year 10,191, the most precious substance in the universe is the spice Melange. The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel. The spice exists on only one planet in the entire universe, the vast desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune. Its native inhabitants, the Fremen, have long held a prophecy that a man would come, a messiah who would lead them to true freedom.

"⭐️⭐️ This movie is so bad I don’t know what David Lynch was thinking. The sets, costumes, makeup design, acting, special effects are ALL laughable. It evoked more 50s era sci fi than 80s to me. By this point we’d already been bestowed with the excellence of Star Wars, Alien, Close Encounters, heck even in 1968 Kubrick’s 2001 vision resulted in some pretty impressive vfx. So I can only think it was an intentional aesthetic choice that Lynch made .. Lynch being Lynch. Anyhoot it did have a lot more exposition than the current films (and if possible, I appreciate them even more now), though weirdly whispered and awkwardly narrated that exposition may have been. But this was 2h16m I can never get back. "
"This movie (Like all of David Fincher's filmography) is divisive. In my opinion, this movie is unintentionally funny, and not at all to be taken seriously. If the new movies didn't have me interested in this movie, I wouldn't have seen it.
I'm glad Patrick Stewart is in this though, he's always a treat.
Don't recommend. "
"Haha, there are a lot of cinematic elements that really show this movie’s year it was made. The flashing montage scenes of video trying to be artistic, the music, some of the sound effects, the acting, the cringy kiss make out sessions, the ASMR inner dialogue.
I don’t know why I was surprised to find Patrick Stewart and Sting in this movie but Patrick is popular acting in the sci-fi realm.
I am kind of biased having seen the remake of Dune first before this one but I do appreciate how they pictured Paul in both of them. This is the only movie so far where I actually liked a remake and would prefer the new one to the old.
In the new Dune there’s a lot more variety in colored actors to give it diversity of alien characters and make you think they’re from different worlds which I like better as well as updated cgi, and the film score.
Considering what the 80s had available, they did their best with what they had lol.
So if you’re feeling nostalgic for 80s sci-fi, you can watch this movie and feel just that."
"Terribly dull, unless you like pageantry."
