"I enjoyed this film by August Wilson. I saw two of his stage plays which chronicled the Black Experience during different decades. This unfolds just like a stageplay. There are excellent performances by Chadwick Bozeman and Viola Davis. There are some passionate scenes that broke my heart, as the characters spoke of racism. Sadly, there is so much talent that simply is ignored or misappropriated."
"A solidly well made film, with phenomenal production values, cinematography, and performances (especially by both Chadwick Boseman (RIP) and Viola Davis (both well deserved Oscar nominations, with Chadwick’s being posthumous)) and powerful social commentary on African-American artists and their struggles for recognition during that time period especially. What a way to end a career for Chadwick!"
