"Well, this was a sweet escape! I wasn’t expecting this romcom to be so lighthearted and playful with witty banter, a feel-good vibe, and a fun supporting cast. Actress Sarah Shahi as "Zahra Bankston" (the White House Deputy Chief of Staff) was so cute & humorous; I LOL'd at her entire performance in the hotel scene where she catches Henry hiding in the closet—she had some really clever & funny lines there. I’m tempted to watch this again sometime just because I felt I got TWO pieces of eye candy for the price of one!! 😻 🍭

"i was marveling at nicholas galitzine pretty much this entire movie. he is so talented and gorgeous. BUT ALSO found this movie incredibly endearing and genuinely funny at times and adorable. i was impressed, it was very well done, the editing was sharp, and the pacing of the plot was captivating (can’t compare to the book i haven’t read but as a film, LOVED)"
"Mixed bag! I had a few issues with some parts of the story. The writing was lazy at times. Like, Henry visits a children’s hospital to show that he’s a Good Guy, but we never find out why he volunteers there, and the hospital never gets brought up again. I have no doubt the book explains things better. A lot of times I wished I could hear the characters’ thoughts because their actions don’t make a lot of sense. Like, Alex decides the best way to avoid embarrassing himself at the wedding is to get wasted.. for some reason. And Henry randomly takes Alex to see all these statues when they’re in the middle of breaking up, so.. that’s weird.
Also, the movie loses a star because I’m so ****** they had Alex get outed by ANOTHER QUEER PERSON. I haven’t read the book, but I know that’s not what happens in the book! The call is not coming from inside the house!! This is such a harmful trope.
Still, some parts were funny, like every interaction between Alex and Zara lol. I thought the scenes with Alex and Henry talking on the phone were cute. And I liked the actor they got for Alex; he (ironically) gives serious Disney prince vibes. "
