"I have to give this movie five stars because of all the love that went into the songs, scores, and the incredible accuracy of the Super Mario Universe and its characters. As one would expect from a movie partially created by Nintendo, this movie is a incredibly adorable, cute, visually and audibly accurate. There are a few voices I thought didn't quite fit, including of course, Chris Pratt as Super Mario. Charles Martinet deserved more than just a few lines as a side character. I also would have liked to see a little more participation from some of the main characters, but I can't have everything. To be fair, as you get into the story you try to leave the dislikes behind. This movie is basically like watching gameplay from a fusion of Super Mario games. The plot is extremely simple so that kids are entertained, and also fun and sentimental for adults who grew up playing the Super Mario Bros. games. There is one short scene immediately after the movie ends, and one after the end of the credits."
"Cute movie, but about less than half way through, I realized it's not my thing. I'm not a gamer so I don't appreciate the Nintendo nostalgia, and it seems to be aiming for a younger audience. The production value is there though, just not my kind of movie. So I'm not going to give it a rating."

"Purely based on entertainment value, I would say this was done really well. The story was cute, the graphics were great and the nostalgia was perfect. Even just as someone whos almost only familiarity of the Mario realm of games is growing up with Super Mario 64 (the Nintendo 64 version) I was able to get most if not all the references. Perhaps a generous rating, but 5/5 🍄"
"Since the release of the first trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, passionate discourse erupted, with plenty of mixed opinions among Mario fans about whether or not Chris Pratt’s accent did justice to everybody’s favorite mustachioed plumber with a purpose. There hasn't been this much controversy over a classic video game character's fictional attributes since Sonic the Hedgehog's teeth (which they “fixed” before releasing the Sonic the Hedgehog movie in 2020).
