"This is an exceptionally well acted fantasy drama, a wonderful story within a story. From the first frame of the movie in which Tilda Swinton, our female lead character, flies to Turkey on Shahrazad Airlines, I was hooked. I appreciate that nod to 1001 nights in which Shahrazad tells her stories to captivate others. That is exactly what this movie did to me. All of my senses were engaged, just like reading a good book, but you already know what the characters look like. Idris Elba is perfectly casted as the Djinn. The Djinn tells stories that take us through the ages he has lived, with colorful characters and exotic locales. The two hour runtime flew by so fast, and I was holding my breath, still waiting for more stories. This movie has become my new favorite, and I will definitely watch it again. It certainly leaves a lot of questions unanswered, but I personally love movies that allow the viewer to fill in the gaps with their own interpretations. If you prefer clear, unambiguous stories, this probably isn’t for you. However, if you’re willing to let the film take you on a ride, I highly encourage checking this out (preferably on the big screen)."
