Kari KirfmanWhen I build a book up ahead of it's release date, I somewhat expect to be disappointed, but I was surprised!! I stretched this book out for as long as I could, and it still only lasted 4 days. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to these characters. First things first -- we had a lot of Lina/Nash and Naomi/Knox sightings throughout this book, along with the secondary cast we've met throughout the series. This one is set in the months leading up to Lina/Nash's wedding, and we get to go to the dress fittings, rehearsal dinner, and other wedding events. However, more of the plot is driven by Sloane's father dying at the beginning of the book. The book opens the morning of his funeral, and Sloane's mother shares that one of his big wishes was that Sloane and Lucien would reconcile. The book flashes back to their high-school years as we discover why their friendship fell apart. In the present, we see their animosity make way for attraction again as they work to secure Sloane's father's legacy & get an innocent woman out of jail. Just as in her other books, I feel that her spicy scenes are perfect. It was a great choice to put this book last as we saw flashes of Sloane and Lucien hating each other throughout the book; it strengthened the childhood friends-to-enemies arc and sweetened the redemption. Kari, why did you knock off a half-star? The ending sequence seemed a bit rushed. Would still recommend, especially if you're a Lucy Score fan.
