"This 2006, 12 episode series has been my favorite so far. It’s not typical in that it’s set in modern day, on earth and everyone is human. You’d be surprised. I’ve noticed biggest plot pusher in anime is you take an innocent, pure character drop them in some outrageous situations with whatever scallawags make up the rest of the cast. These scallawags, literal pirates, are the coolest characters with great action sequences and dialogue. It ends ambiguously and no one really knows why they haven’t ever done a 2nd season based on its popularity. This also has my new favorite song as its theme song and some hauntingly beautiful outro music. This is a good “starter” anime, for people like me. "
