"I think SAO has great ideas but it’s execution of those ideas leaves a lot to be desired. General stupidity of the characters involved kirito included, every woman he interacts with falls in love with the main character, little spotlight for the supporting cast, plot holes, not fully fleshing out the world or it’s rules. But it’s initial premise drew so many in myself included. It’s ok if you drop it past the first season. "
"I really enjoyed the first season of this show. I thought the concept of getting stuck in a video game was super interesting and the added stakes of dying irl added to the story. The other seasons were okay, I wasn’t a huge fan of the fairy one but the gunslinger season wasn’t too bad. Would recommend checking it out if you’re into video games, adventure, and fantasy."
"Only watched the first season. Felt like a complete show a great story. Some romance. But then the ending of season one seriously tugs at your heart strings. Then it ends on an incredible cliffhanger that makes you feel a lot of mixed feelings. Never could get pass that and watch the other seasons. Maybe it's because of how different each season is. Season 1 swords and magic then season 2 is guns. It mixes it up. But it's a good show."
"I love this show and the balance of fantasy and romance that it strikes. I think it needs more episodes in the first seasons to have filled in so many gaps of info but for the amount of episodes that had to make things work, they did amazing and by the end of the latest season (as of 2024 is alicization) I am emotionally wrung.
There is a lot of video game lingo that can feel jarring for viewers that aren’t familiar but I think they do a good job of easing viewers into the world. "
