In the modern world, a lonely man dies and reincarnates in another world. Rescued as a baby from a tragedy by a brilliant sage named Merlin, the baby is raised as “Shin Walford,” and undergoes training in both magic and martial arts to kill the monsters that ravage the land. At 15 years old, Shin has become shockingly powerful. But his grandfather Merlin has forgotten to teach him the common sense of this world.
As a result, Shin enrolls in the kingdom's Magic Academy to hone his skills and mature among other teenagers. However, living a normal life is impossible, as he is established as a local celebrity almost as soon as he arrives.
This story follows Shin Walford's high school life in the capital as he makes new friends, learns about the world, and fights off the various forces of evil surrounding him and his city.

"I'm a sucker for this show.
I was drawn in by the full cover when I saw this on Hulu. I love animes with tons of characters, & this one had lots. There are so many of them, & they come in spades. When the extras shine is truly when the show shines. I love seeing how everyone interacts together. Plus, I adore Isekai's, at least most of them. So, one that had a full class of distinct characters with a fantasy world layout was tons of fun.
It's not perfect, tho. It falls into an overpowered main character route. He's super strong, smart, & basically good at everything (what do you expect from an Isekai tho). But he was trained from a baby by the strongest 3 people in the kingdom, so his strength makes sense unlike others. Even the love interest is sterotypical & rather annoying. I hate the squeaky voice but you get used to it. Parts of it can be cringey too, but that's expected with an anime.
Yet I enjoy it. The fact that he brings modern inventions using basic knowledge & his own skills adds an extra layer to the story. It works well. Plus, I think we can all agree we're tired of magical chanting just as much as the main character Shin. It makes his reactions to that so authentic & enjoyable.
I also really enjoy the villain. He and Shin mix well together when it comes to personality. It makes those moments they clash so much more impactful. His background is expected, yet you love watching it all the same.
The real reason I like this show, though, is that it doesn't go slow. Things go down fast. The protagonist and antagonist meet & battle before the 5th episode. It keeps you ready & raring to go. You're never quite sure what'll come next because things move fast. It's not in a bad way, but you see a lot go down. I hope beyond hope we get a second season.
To finish this off, let me give you one vital note. There are END SCENES! I'm some episodes at least. And yes, you want and need to watch them."
